The Bernardines

The place of nuns in the Cistercian family historically left its mark in a great diversity of statutes. Several congregations of sisters inherited the spirituality of Cîteaux and of Saint Bernard. These congregations are closely tied to the countries that saw them born.
The Bernardines of Esquermes have several monasteries in the north of France and exercise a teaching vocation.
